What is a giclee print and how does it differ from a fine inkjet print?

Giclee is a term developed in 1990 to set emerging digital art and superb quality prints apart
from more mundane proofs. Now the terms are interchangeable.

Giclee (zhee-clay) n. 1. a type of digital fine art print. 2. Most often associated with reproductions;
a giclee is a multiple print or exact copy of an original work of art that was created by conventional
means (painting, drawing, etc.) and then reproduced digitally, typically via inkjet printing.
First use in this context by Jack Duganne in 1991, Los Angeles, California.

Superb Equipment and Archival Inks

Our Epson 9900 printer enables us to offer giclee printing using the new generation of eleven-color
fine art Ultra Chrome inks to provide the best archival digital reproduction available today.
With the addition of orange and green, we can now offer better than 90% accuracy for your Pantone colors.
